NATURAL RED AGATE BEADS

The Hibla necklace with the matching earrings. The same long, narrow beads run through both, cut fine enough that each strand reads as one continuous line rather than a row of stones. The necklace sits at 43cm, just above the collarbone. The earrings drop from the lobe, long enough to move when you do. Named for the Tagalog word for a strand, a fibre, a single thread.

Red agate is a warm, deep red, banded and faintly translucent. Cut long and narrow, it carries the light down its length, so the line warms and darkens as it turns against the skin.

The earrings are two piece, worn three ways. The stud on its own, the drop hanging behind the earlobe, or the drop hanging in front of it.

Worn together the necklace leads and the earrings answer it. Each works alone: the necklace layered under a longer chain so the two lengths sit apart, the earrings with a collar up, and better still with hair back.
